Straighten That Smile with Mississauga Orthodontics & Invisalign®

Dr. Sajner & Associates’ team of highly skilled professionals will help you achieve that perfect smile with Invisalign® or general orthodontic work.

Invisalign®

Rather than use the classic metal braces, Invisalign® is an almost invisible method to straighten your teeth. We will fit you with removable, partially see-through aligners that are crafted to fit your teeth. Over time these aligners will cause your teeth to shift their position slightly over a period of two weeks. After every two weeks, you will change to a new set of aligners to cause your teeth to shift a little more. The treatment progresses over the weeks and months causing your teeth to straighten into the desired positions.

Braces

Tried, tested, and true braces will help you deliver that perfect smile. Our team has over 30 years’ experience helping our patients achieve their smiles through general orthodontic work via metal or clear braces.

How to Take Care of Your Braces

After your braces, it will be easier for you to maintain a healthy mouth. However, while you’re still wearing them, you’ll need to boost your normal oral hygiene routine. Braces have small spaces, bands, and wires where your food can get trapped. Plus, not only do you have to take care of your teeth, you have to take good care of your braces too. A regular appointment with us helps a better oral hygiene routine, but you still have to do your part at home.

Brushing With Braces

When you’re preparing to brush, take off any removable parts of the braces like the elastics. Then, have your brush at an angle of 45 degrees to get to the pins and wires. Sweep from top to bottom for each wire. Then, focus on each tooth. With the same angle, brush the tooth and gum’s junction in a circular motion. Use a milder pressure and count to ten. Do this for each tooth and tilt as needed to reach for the hidden surfaces.

Flossing With Braces

For flossing, waxed floss is preferred over un-waxed. The latter is more inclined to get caught on the wires and shred. Thread it very carefully under the main wire, then, between two teeth. So that it won’t break, just gently floss up and down. And so that you won’t have to labour too much on this, avoid food that could hamper or bend the wires. These include sticky, crunchy, and sugary food. Or if you really need to eat healthy hard food, cut it into smaller pieces. Following these tips, you’ll maintain healthy teeth and sturdy braces!
